Your donations to all three funds

Postby JohnHarding » Thu Dec 13, 2018 9:39 pm

It's that time of year again, so I have been making arrangements today, details of which are given below:

1. Dusty's headstone in Henley. Just before Christmas each year, I arrange for some type of floral tribute to be placed at the headstone in Henley churchyard. Annette March from The White Garden Florist in the town will be making what she assures me will be an outstanding wreath containing some impressive floral components, and this will be placed at the stone before Christmas. When Annette sends me the photographs, I shall post them here for you all to see.

2. The Royal Marsden Trust are offering their usual 'Celebrate a Life' named star which is hung from the Christmas tree in the foyer of their Chelsea facility. One will be placed there once again this year bearing Dusty's name. (The charming young lady with whom I made the arrangements hesitated just a little too long when I told her the name I wanted to appear, so I asked her if she knew who Dusty Springfield was. She said she thought she had heard the name but that that was the extent of her knowledge, so I had to explain that she was the finest singer this country had ever produced. Our work on earth is not over yet!)

3. The Celia Hammond Animal Trust. Last January we sponsored two cats, one of whom (Tim) has regrettably since died. So I have renewed sponsorship for the next year of the other cat from last year, Bluebell, and have substituted a new cat, named Mr. Brown, for 2019. I shall receive a sponsorship pack in respect of Mr. Brown soon, and again, I shall post details and hopefully a photograph for you all to see.

None of this activity could take place if it were not for your collective and individual generosities, so please accept my thanks for making funds available so that it is possible to perpetuate Dusty's memory in ways which are close to our hearts now, and in areas which meant so much to Dusty during her lifetime.

I hope everyone reading this will enjoy a very happy and peaceful holiday season, and a healthy and prosperous 2019.

I promised to send photos of the floral tributes put on and around Dusty's headstone in Henley, and these have arrived today. (Carole, you asked about the planter - the answer is yes, they are refreshed routinely.) Annette, the florist, has really excelled herself - she promised an outstanding Christmas wreath, and this one certainly fits the bill in my eyes. I hope you all like it as much as I do.
I'm still waiting for the cat sponsorship paperwork to arrive, but I shall scan in it when it gets to me.
Happy Christmas everyone.
John

I have commented elsewhere, but it's always nice to say something on this site.

The marker looks lovely for Christmas. Thanks. It's a nice wreath.
Always good to see it surrounded by plants and flowers too.

Thank you so much John, both the wreath and planter look wonderful. Thanks too to everyone who supports the funding to make sure the flowers for Dusty keep on arriving and to anyone else who is able to visit and place their flowers there in person x <3 <3

Yesterday, I received the sponsorship pack for the new cat, Mr. Brown, from The Celia Hammond Animal Trust, and I've scanned the documents (please excuse the Christmas card image - I've tried to rotate and save it, but it's a case of operator error, I imagine). A lovely looking cat, with a rather sad background - I'm really pleased that he was the one they offered.

Happy Christmas everyone.
