I dont think it is fair to blame Cas John, she joined very reluctantly long after it was set up because ltd members started to chat on facebook and not on ltd. Cas is the most loyal and genuine Dusty fan you could ever wish to meet and she just wanted to keep chatting about Dusty etc. I believe she only took over its day to day postings recently and it is a well established platform regardless of who likes it or not. I am sure she will explain to you if you ask her.
I just wish ltd was as active as it was before as its my only " Dusty fix" but sadly it isnt. All the people on facebook could drop in and keep friendly with ltd posts if they chose to but it seems unlikely after all this time.

Thank you Liz, thats kind of you. Indeed I was very reluctant as you know to join Fb, but it really was the only way to keep up with what was happening Dusty wise. I'd be the first to agree that it did take a lot from LTD as people just stopped posting. I try to keep things going on all sites that I am involved with.

Liz, I'm not blaming Cas or anyone else! I blame FB. I'm doing all I can to keep this group alive with very little support. To be honest I think that I'm obviously wasting my time.

Unbelievably, it’s now 20 years ( March 2nd) since Dusty left us.
Who would have thought that Dusty Day, the annual celebration of her life would still be going strong ?
Dusty, definitely wouldn’t have thought it. :pensive:
I know that this years special event will be as entertaining as ever and I’m looking forward to meeting some old and new friends at West 5.
Anyone here aiming to attend? xx

Hi Wendy, Liz and Carole R,

I'll be at Dusty Day too.

Who else is going? Is there a plan for a meal together on the Saturday or the Sunday night?

If not I will be happy to organise it.

We are travelling down on Friday staying at the usual premier inn for three nights, so wont be able to make Henley on the Monday which is gutting given that its a special year, but I cant leave my mum any longer than that with just carers popping in. I wasn't impressed at the cost of the hotel either, 267 quid for three nights with no breakfast! not that I ever get up for breakfast lol, and then you add in the train fares, spends, god knows how much in the auction. We would be happy to meet up with anyone there for a meal on the Saturday night before DD, or even the friday if theres anyone there. we have found that the restaurant in the hotel is more than adequate, ive never had a bad meal, however there are lots of eateries to choose from, I cant offer to organise it but would love to meet with folk who are down for a few days xx

I wont know till I get there tomorrow who is around on the Saturday, donella it would be lovely to have dinner with you again, and carole g, and maybe a few more, who knows, I will figure it out tomorrow, looking forward to seeing people again, and sad that I wont be seeing those that cant come, this will be my first dusty day as a "sober" person, and the first one without nancy being around, if even she wasn't there, it will be bittersweet. Do you all remember travelling dusty? nancys fav image that had been laminated and she took it anywhere dusty related, well, ive made a travelling nancy which I will be taking with me wherever I go and especially dusty day itself

Hi Neil,

That is a lovely tribute to Nancy. She is very much missed by everyone who knew her. :rose:

On Saturday evening I won't get to Ealing until about 7. I will go to my Airbnb (Premier Inn too expensive!) then I will make my way up to meet you guys.

It will likely be around 8 by the time I get there. Let me know if you think that will be too late. If it is, we can always have dinner on Sunday night.

I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone.

Big thanks to everyone who organised Dusty Day yesterday. I had a wonderful time. I’ve been a big fan of Dusty since I was a little girl back in 64 and yesterday meant a great deal to me. Seeing Julie Felix was tremendous, what a talent she still is. Simon Bell must have worked so hard and it is comforting to see that Dusty’s memory is in great hands.

Carole R and Carole trek tidying the very overgrown marker. It was very cold there and some of the flowers were struggling. The red roses were wilting with the frost and of course water had gone. There wasnt a watering can there so it wasnt easy to hydrate it all. The planter was nice and the 80 flower display looked lovely.
I put the prayer message in the Church from us all at ltd etc.

Hi guys, I was lucky enough to buy a box of clippings and original press association photos.
I will post pictures later on if anyone is interested.
I also need your help....last year I bought Dusty notebook in the auction. In the back there are some song lyrics from the Springfield’s plus an anecdote from a trip to cologne....I’m struggling to place the Springfields in cologne or even Dusty herself at this time.
I will put a photo on of the page where Dusty writes of the cologne performance - sounds like a variety show...,if anyone can shed any light on this I would be forever grateful.
Thankyou
James X

Hi James, I did see a few bits from your box in the bar on the night of DD but I'd love to see any of the more unusual pics again please [:D] Dusty did go to Germany in 63 with Harry Secombe and others but I only have it as Berlin, guess she could have travelled to Cologne too.

Hi James,

It's fabulous to hear about the box of clippings you bought at DD. I would also love to see them.

I remember you buying the notebook last year. It seems very intriguing, especially the notes about the trip to Cologne.

I agree with Carole that this could be connected with Dusty's concert for the troops in Berlin along with Harry Secombe. The problem is that Cologne and Berlin are a long way apart.

I have put together a comprehensive list of every appearance I can find of the Springfields and I haven't come across a visit to Cologne. That's not to say they never went there!

And so the mystery goes on :pensive:

There is lots more - so many newspaper clippings from the press association library.
Plus magazines etc.
The photos are press photos complete with the yellow editing pen line, on the back of them is the newspaper article that they were used in.
Amazing X
The notebook holds so much - such as Dustys address on Baker Street...I love the thought of Dusty learning her lines by writing the lyrics down.

Yes, Mrs Leslie was Dusty's landlady. The notes are so fascinating, apart from song lyrics, not a lot else makes too much sense and you can almost imagine that, from her written notes, Dusty's head was constantly full of all sorts of stuff! The notebook is a genuine treasure. The one photo that stands out for me amongst those you've posted is the middle bottom as it's not one I've seen used anywhere before.
