'Resting' all things Dusty

Postby Tim » Thu Jun 28, 2012 9:22 pm

I don't mean overplayed albums but as part of my time out from LTD, I actually rested all thoughts of Dusty as I was starting to dream obsessively about everything about her. In a loop...LOL!

I am fully recharged now & the benefits are that her music sounds better than ever after a break from hearing it.

I wonder if any of you feel the need for a rest from time to time?!

If I didn't play Dusty for more than three days I would think the world had come to an end!

I must stress Brian, I wasn't tired of her.. LOL..just working on my compulsive tendencies..

I am not expecting anyone else on here to 'rest' Dusty by choice but I thought it might be fun to see if any of you have had to live without her for a bit for some reason.

(Come to think of it - I have YouTubed Dusty every now & then. Just not read & listened to her CDs for a bit. It was more by accident really as I don't listen to much other music when working my own material in case I pinch things subconsciously.)

I have to go through "withdrawal" from time to time. As you said, it's not that I ever get tired of her music it's just that I find it all a bit overwhelming for some reason.

Dusty's music & her story cover a lot of emotional ground so perhaps that can be overwhelming at times.

As I learned more about the woman behind the music , like everyone on here I am sure, I felt quite haunted by events in periods of her life . I spent quite a lot of time wishing her journey had taken a different path, but of course - it was what it was.

After a long break she is like an old friend that you can take up with where you left off. [:)]

Naggie

It's like cleansing your palate before tasting another kind of wine. I "rest" from Dusty sometimes too.

I can go for weeks without playing Dusty or any of my other favourite artists. When I revisit them it's like hearing them with fresh ears. The only music which I must play at least a track a day is Motown.

It's important to me to take a break, sometimes.
After that, it's like if I listen the music for the first time.
