Dusty's former home for sale

Postby countrycake » Mon Aug 22, 2016 7:04 pm

According to the online edition of the Daily Mail, Dusty's former home at Aubrey Walk, Kensington, is on the market for £16.5m. There are a lot of photos of the art deco house as it now is, which represents quite a transformation since Dusty's day. The things I would miss if it wasn't for Google Alerts!

I couldn't get the page up from Daily Mail but I found it on Prime Location.com. It appears that the neighbouring house has been acquired to make a very large property with 7 en- suite bedrooms. I wonder what Dusty would think of it now ?. I trust the Blue plaque ( number 2) cannot be removed. There are 12 pictures on this site including an exterior which shows the plaque.
I'd rather see the world the way it used to be.......
..I'm goin' back.

I get those alerts too but I seem to be later in the day than other people as they usually post the updates on Facebook before mine arrive!

When Dusty lived in Aubrey Walk, it was 4 beds, large living room, kitchen and 2 bathrooms, nothing like the property as it is now. She went in through the same doorway but I think today's interior would have left her gobsmacked [:o]

I would love this home!
Nice price, garden, swimming pool !
It looks so simple from the outside !
I think the value is increased by her name at the entrance plaque.

That seems a bit steep, even for London!

When we spoke briefly to the then owner back in 2004(?) she said the interior then didn't look much like when Dusty owned it. I would be surprised if there is any real similarity now that it has been gutted and expanded.

Next life I will buy Dusty a house, a racing car, carry her wig boxes and dance and sing waiting for her to "get ready". THAT is how one treats a Lady!

When I started this thread in August last year the asking price was £16.5m.

According to a piece in the City AM newspaper yesterday, it is now on the market for £15.5m. Presumably it didn't sell last year.

I have a pic of the door back from 2005, but it isn't the original colour. Love the brick and the wisteria. All gone now.

According to the Mansion Global site Dusty's former Aubrey Walk residence "hit the market" Saturday with a £14 million asking price: if someone has purchased it since last summer when the asking price was £15.5 million they either negotiated a considerably lower price or they're prepared to take a comparatively small profit if not a loss. (The article does state: "Mansion Global could not determine the seller of the home, or when they purchased it.") I believe the Mansion Global pix all appeared in the Daily Mail piece linked to in this thread's header post with the exception of this terrace shot (click to enlarge):

You can view the Mansion Global piece - which is pretty "barebones" - here: https://www.mansionglobal.com/articles/ ... et-for-14m

That was a lot of money in 1967,I also remember Cilla saying she had rented a flat for £50 a week - that was a lot then too. Nowadays you would not get that for one night!
