Talking of duets on another forum got me wondering if there is anyone with whom you would have liked to see/hear Dusty duet on record.

We know she duetted with many guests on her own show, and of course she guested on other Artistes shows as well.

Cilla Black, Spencer Davis, Pet Shop Boys, Darryl Hall are some of the names with whom she did record

But who in your view, would have been a humdinger of a recording duet partner for Dusty.

You can name a song as well if ya like!...

Well my dream duet partner for Dusty would have been Marvin Gaye. I'd have loved them to have sung/recorded 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough', 'Two Can Have A Party', 'Sad Wedding' or perhaps 'Morning Please Don't Come'.

I recently asked a friend of mine to try to make a Dusty/Marvin duet out of their versions of 'Can I Get A Witness'. Unfortunately it just did not work as to make the arrangements match Dusty ended up sounding like Minnie Mouse & Marvin like Tiny Tim

There were rumours that Dusty & Marvin had recorded together but sadly that's just a myth. After an extensive search by the librarians and lots of emails nothing was found in the vaults at either Motown or Philips.

How about Annie Lennox or Alison Moyet, Alison did sing Where is a woman to go with her but more as backing...

I too would have loved to hear a Dusty & Marvin duet..maybe 'Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing'
Another nice duet would have been Dusty and the late Donny Hathaway singing 'Where Is the Love?'

I know that Dusty and Scott Walker duetted on her show with Let It Be Me but I would love to have heard them together on say, Make it Easy on Yourself. I would also have loved to have heard Dusty and Bette Midler together.....they could have had fun, or sing something sadder that I know Dusty said she liked, Hello in There.

Oh yes Carole, I do agree that Scott & Dusty would have made a wonderful partnership as both their voices had a great depth of feeling. I can just hear them singing 'No Regrets'.

Dusty loved San Remo so much , Have often wondered how she and Pino Donaggio would have sounded together ,she was so moved by his singing Io che non vivo, floored her it seems, and without this we would never have experienced You Don't Have To Say You Love Me.

Elvis would have been interesting. Maybe they could have done You Don't Have To Say You Love Me with him doing the verses and Dusty doing the choruses.

How about if she had decided to make A Very Fine Love a real country album and duetted with people like Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard? Or maybe if she had duetted with the post-Broken English Marianne Faithfull, or Sandie Shaw at that time. Those two took a much more interesting path into the 80s than Cilla Black did. Dusty seemed like she wasn't able to commit to either road.
