I was actually awake this morning to listen to Tony B and his Dusty track!
Also watched the 5 and the caravans! Took me back to when we had a touring van though we would not have taken ours down that narrow road...unless of course I had got us lost, which happened a few times...lol

It was pulling a caravan what did for the Reliant [;)]

2 am, It's hot and I can't sleep - switch on Radio5 Live and there's Dusty. Nearly an hour of discussion on DIM. Needless to say I listened and eventually fell asleep.

Here's the link whiz along to 1.05 (news1.31-1.36) starts again with WOYM.

Well I was awake and struggling in this heat at night to try and sleep, if i had switched it on it would have driven me mad as I thought it was a badly managed segment. Talking over each other and meandering about .
It was a well meant but poorly executed session.
The good side being we got to hear that wonderful husky Dusty and she was never meant to be compared to Aretha as a singer. Dusty was not a gospel singer so it was always ludicrous and didnt do her low self esteem any favours at that time when the album wasnt successful .
It is a great album as has since been proved by its lasting success and Dusty was incomparable then and now.

Liz, I quite agree it was not the best of radio especially with the poor narrative. Glad that full tracks were played.
Very strange when a "reggae" version of SOAPM by AF was played .

just had a little bit of a dusty moment, I was sitting here mulling over the sad news about Aretha dying, and I thought two things, first the story about them in a lift, and then I thought of the line from yesterday when I was young " there are so many songs in me that wont be sung", anyway, ive got all of dustys albums and bozsets on iTunes and im on random while I cook tea, and what came on a few minutes later, YWIWY

Just had a Dusty moment out of left field. In this video about Jimi Hendrix' first "official" gig, at London's Cromwellian club (Jimi had played The Scotch Of St. James before he had a work permit), Brian Auger talks about the venue as a gathering place for the who's who of Brit rock. He mentions Dusty at the 3:00 minute mark:

What the World Needs Now: Words by Hal David hosted by Bette Midler.

PBS presents a special devoted to the music/lyrics of Hal David.
Check your local listings for various viewing times.
Shown here in NYC on WNET Channel 13 Thursday evening. April 4 at 9PM.

Guests interviewed for the program include Bacharach, Dionne Warwick, Valerie Simpson, B. J. Thomas, music writer Francis Davis and NPR’s Terry Gross, along with a cavalcade of music-clip performances from Aretha Franklin, Cher, Barbra Streisand, B. J. Thomas, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Jackie DeShannon, Glen Campbell and, of course, the fabulous Warwick, who is the inspirational muse for almost the entire Bacharach-David songbook.

I am not certain which video clips of Dusty will be shown but it looks like Look Of Love and Wishin and Hopin.
