It's not the first time Paul has come up with a live track, I like that [:)] Plus, it's a great performance from Dusty.

On radio 2 tracks of my years this morning Keren Woodward from Bananarama chose Dusty singing " the look of love "
She said it was a reminder from her family childhood days... she said this....." Bacharach and David song with the chords, the melody, the music, the sentiment and her rich rich voice I just adore Dusty Springfield.
she just had the most incredible warmth in her voice, very nostalgic.
there are certain songs you hear that just make you well up and that's one of them. songs from my childhood particularly having lost both my parents in the last couple of years.they bring back memories of happy times and being young and I still absolutely love it and I play it on a regular basis."
Then it was played. It's so good to hear her being chosen so often, she has endured even though she probably didn't think she would. Dusty rules.... [yahoo] :star:
"every day I find you're in my heart and on my mind"

"she was the very essence of fabness""

" its nice to rest for awhile thank you "

Thanks to everyone for keeping us updated on Dusty moments. I never listen to SOTS any more, I tried it twice but I really can't stand what's happened to it and Tony Blackburn isn't for me, too manic [:)] I do wonder though, reading through what he's already played of Dusty's, will he ever go for a b side or an album track? That was the beauty of the 'real' SOTS.

Maybe we should remind him about B side and album tracks.
He has played Dusty on a regular basis but most of the tracks on the show do seem to be A side of all artists.
I tend to listen on catch up whilst doing jobs as the time slot now is too early! [ear]

Re the above comments, when Brian was still doing the show I had a few Dusty requests played.
I emailed Phil ( the collector ) Swern a few times as he is the knowledge behind most of the shows we all like and produces so much of them. I asked him if he had considered specials of b sides or of doing a show playing a whole album of an artist as newer fans may only know the hit singles. He said he had asked the BBC about it but the powers that be didn't think they would be popular enough!
Says it all really, a lost opportunity as the play lists seem to be just hit songs from albums rather than some of the lovely album tracks we all know and love.
Maybe it's time to jog their memories and suggest it again.

Maybe we should and hope that it will make a difference but I do wonder if Brian cared more about what was played than Tony, being that Phil Swern is still the producer. I was once told in an email (not about SOTS) that people like to hear the hits, possibly....but not ALL the time. Brian (and Phil?) were great in their choices, I managed to have requests for 'Willie and Laura May', 'Don't Speak of Love' and 'Breakfast in Bed' played, plus two other album tracks which escape me right now. Johnny Walker when he was covering for Wogan once, also played 'Just a Little Lovin' for me too, so obviously 'the hits' policy is just talk and hopefully the presenters have some say [:)]

Elaine Paige interviewing Kristin Chenoweth on radio 2 just played Spooky and then asked if Kristin loved her as much as she did. The reply was yes that she had wanted to play her on stage. Elaine then said Dusty was her idol when she was growing up. Loved the husky smoky voice and said a few musicals about Dusty had been around. [:)]

Sainsbury's has announced that it is setting its own record label in association with the Universal and Warner music groups. The label's name is Own Label and it will only issue vinyl. Bob Stanley, member of Saint Etienne and long-time Dusty fan is involved.

In the BBC news piece Stanley reminisces about buying Dusty's Greatest Hits vinyl album.

2 weekends ago Owen money on radio Wales played ..am I the same girl... Then last Sunday on channel 4 Julie Walters coastal railways series had the same song playing in the background. Then last night she was In Cornwall and met a music promoter who started out in the fifties booking acts for the area. He showed her his bookings records and he had bookings of the stones etc then turned a page to show the Springfields and said ...and of course the wonderful Dusty Springfield. JULIE AGREED . :bravo:
