New flowers on Dusty's memorial in Henley

Postby JohnHarding » Sat Oct 01, 2016 8:41 pm

Hi everyone.
I've yet to find my way around the site completely, and if anyone has mentioned this already, please forgive me. Today is the anniversary of the Forum's creation, and it was felt that the event warranted some recognition. A new floral tribute was placed in the churchyard at Henley today, and a photo, kindly provided by the local florist, is attached. There was a slight problem with a close-up photograph of the card attached to the flowers, so I can't post that picture, but it was felt that this would be a suitable opportunity to include former members who are no longer with us; so the card reads as follows:
To mark the 10th anniversary of the creation of 'Let's talk Dusty', and to remember former stalwarts Brian Fidler and Rob Wilkins who left us this year.
I believe Corinna has already mentioned that I have assumed Rob's responsibilities in terms of receiving and accounting for donations, and making payments to the florist and certain charities on behalf of the Forum. I feel very privileged to have been asked, and shall do my best to measure up to Rob's high standards.
With best wishes,
John

A super idea to mark the 10th anniversary of LTD and to acknowledge the contribution that Brian and Rob have made during those years.
Thanks for organising the lovely flowers John.

There's a suffix to the donations email address for use exclusively on PayPal by LTD members wishing to make donations to either the fund for flowers for Dusty's memorial, The Royal Marsden Trust, and the Celia Hammond Animal Trust (about which I am about to post a message). The account name is:

john383harding@btinternet.com

If anyone has tried to make a donation using the address without the '.com' suffix, the funds would not have been received. I believe PayPal validates receivers' addresses anyway, but I have checked and know that there have been no inward transfers since the account became operational last week. If anyone did try to send funds in the past week, please let me know so that we can resolve any issue which will arise.

Thanks,

John

Donations

Postby JohnHarding » Sat Oct 08, 2016 3:25 pm

Hi everyone.

After a few minor issues, I'm happy to report that the LTD PayPal contributions account is now fully functional and able to accept donations. I've never been on the receiving end of PayPal transactions before, and there is one thing which will help me apportion funds in the way that you, as donors, wants them used without my having to bother you. The three current distinct uses are
1. Flowers for Dusty's memorial in Henley
2. The Royal Marsden Hospital Trust
3. The Celia Hammond Animal Trust

If you could simply include details as to which which of the three your funds are intended for when you load the transfers, I can then ensure the money is correctly applied.

I hope I am not embarrassing anyone by saying the the sale of the late Brian Fidler's CDs at the Manchester gathering recently yielded GBP40, which Lynn has sent to me, and which has been added to the flower fund. Thanks to everyone who contributed - I am sure Brian would have been delighted.

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend.

John

The grand total from the sales of Brians cds is infact £100 John. I have the balance of £60 which I will give to Carole G when I see her in November.
I usually donate to the Flower fund etc through Rob and by cheque. I wonder if it is still possible to donate by cheque please?
