Thanks Rob. I must say Fiona and I were very disappointed when we first saw the marker. We did what we could with pruning dead flowers and giving the planter and yellow plant a good water. Now it looks lovely, thanks again.

Fiona, pleased you got to go to Henley with Pat, lovely flowers and photos. Did you light a candle and see
any more of Henley? Great experience isn't it?
The planter has been transformed and looks stunning, well done to all.
Shame the little miniature cat isn't there anymore, he wasn't doing any harm was he?

Went to Henley today. Lovely photos but unfortunately they had become detached and were a few yards away from the marker. I have attached them to the butterfly which I hope is ok?

Thanks a lot Pam, glad the pics were still around. I expect the tub I took to put the flowers in has disappeared, usually does.
Hope you enjoyed your visit .

Pat. I think the tub was still there. I do go fairly often so will take another look and put some more flowers or a new plant there next time.Pam

Flower tub is still there - someone has added some new flowers. Photos still there too. Also a new plant there. I put a plant there too today - a pink miniature rose.

Thanks Pam for update on marker, glad it is looking good. Henley is such a lovely town, always enjoy visiting. Have you managed to make it to Frogmill ? - where Dusty lived before her final move to Little Hill.

No I haven't been but the photos look lovely. I used to know Taplow quite well. You probably know when Dusty lived there she used to drive around the country roads quite a lot and one day a year or so after she moved there she drove up behind me!

Pam, it's amazing to hear that! Without a doubt, if that happened to me, I would have ended up in the hedge!
Forgive my inquisitiveness, but I have to ask......
How did you know it was Dusty behind you? What car was she driving? What did you do? :?: :!:

I too would have probably hit something. I've already broke my wing mirror off twice in the last couple of months and that was only listening to Dusty. Much to my husbands dismay "how have you managed to do that." He's asked (whoops!!)

I think it was a cream mercedes. Taplow was a very quiet village then so not that many people driving around the village and I was driving quite slow. I suddenly noticed a car behind me and could see it was her in my car mirror. She turned off fairly soon probably going home. Later in 1993 Dusty walked passed me in a place called Burnham which is a couple of miles from Taplow. Again a fairly quiet place and she was on her way to her favourite fish and chip shop purse in hand. She was wearing a hooded jacket that completely covered her hair and a baseball cap but definitely her!

Pam - thanks so much for that, it's absolutely fascinating. I wonder how you felt after seeing her? What lovely experiences for you....that you will never forget :pensive:

You have conjured up some fantastic mental images for me.....Dusty in a cream Mercedes (very classy!), and Dusty ordering fish & chips (salt but no vinegar!). <3 <3 <3

Glen, that's hilarious!! [roflol]
I think maybe it's just as well that you weren't living near Taplow in the 1990's....your Steve would have been a nervous wreck! [;)]

A precious moment! When I saw her walking towards me I was surprised even though I knew she went to that shop. She did glance at me as we passed. I think she was wondering if I had recognised her. I pretended I hadn't because this was her personal time. From what I have read and know about her from her newsletters in the fan mag I think living in Taplow was her happiest time and that is where I like to remember her.

Good to see marker with lots of flowers. Thanks to Liz and Karen. I hope to visit again soon. <3
Love Henley - in a strange way you feel close to Dusty, which is a very nice feeling. :rose: <3

PS. If anyone is thinking of going and would like to meet up then send me a PM, a coffee in Cafe Rouge would be nice.

PPS. Looks as though one of the photos Fiona or I left way back in August is still there!

An interesting photo of the Marker as another piece of stone seems to have been put under the main granite engraving.
This does make it look better.
Anyone know anything about this...the original stone can just be seen around the edges framing it?

Hi everyone, can anyone copy the script/picture which David Hay Gibson posted on the official Dusty Facebook site (4Dec). There are some folk who for various reasons do not do Facebook. I'm sure they will be delighted to see the re-furbished marker. Thank you for your generosity David.

PS .I do not wish to upset anyone who may be connected with this project, I just thought all Dusty friends should be able to see it.
