I have just received the following photographs from Annette March in Henley. As usual, Annette has done us proud with her special floral tribute to mark what would have been Dusty's 80th birthday next Tuesday, so huge thanks go to her. This time, given the special occasion, David Hay Gibson and I discussed the timing of our respective tributes, and we agreed that a floral tribute in the shape of the number 80 would be appropriate on this highly significant occasion. The flowers are in place now so that any visitors to Henley can have the benefit of them. If any 'out-of-towners' are visiting Henley, these are for you too! The following words are attached to the 'Let's talk Dusty' tribute:
Acknowledging what would have been your 80th birthday. With undying affection from the ‘Let’s talk Dusty’ community around the world, who continue to miss your presence. XXX
Some of you may not be aware that when you contribute to the flower fund, you not only pay for occasional individual arrangements like this birthday one, but also for a permanent planter which also has to be refreshed with growing plants in keeping with the seasons periodically throughout the year. The planter has also been updated today, and I've also included a picture of that before the 80 tribute was positioned.
I hope everyone approves of the choice on this occasion; and thank you to everyone whose contributions make my 'duty' such a pleasure. I also hope to see lots of you, whether again or for the first time, on Sunday in Ealing when we'll celebrate Dusty's work collectively.
John
