i gotta say, hearing Longing for the first time was a pretty emotional experience.
It's not perfect- hell, it's not even completed- but there are moments where Dusty's putting her heart on the line like she never did before (or would again). "In the Winter", "Home to Myself", "Exclusively For Me", "Beautiful Soul"...all have this tremendous intimacy to them.
I think i said it before, but my first time listening, I kinda felt like I was eavesdropping...
not to mention, I point to the Longing sessions as the last time we would hear the "classic" Dusty voice (notably in parts of "Make the Man Love Me"), as her vocals had undeniably evolved by the time she returned to recording 3 years later.
