Dusty Day 2011 announced

Simon Bell has released details of next year’s ‘Dusty Day 2011’.

It will take place on Sunday 1st May 2011 at “West 5”, 56 Popes Lane, South Ealing, London W5 4NB - the change in venue is due to Finnegan’s Wake being unavailable, while the date has been set partly due to other commitments and partly to avoid the Easter Weekend, at the wish of a number of the fans. Simon’s description of West 5 sounds very interesting and there are plans for external caterers and possibly even a barbeque.

While tickets are not yet on sale, be sure to keep checking as they go very quickly due to the immense popularity of the event.

Dusty at Glastonbury 2010

It was good to hear Dusty’s sultry voice echoing across the fields of Glastonbury at the weekend.

The Pet Shop Boys were singing their hit ‘What Have I Done To Deserve This?’ - on which Dusty duetted with them and as a result of which her career was revitalised and she became known to a whole new generation of fans.

The Pet Shop Boys had previously caused a furore by using Lady Gaga to provide the vocals, much to the chagrin of Dusty fans. They made up for it on this occasion by thanking “the wonderful, the legendary, Dusty Springfield”.

And the Glastonbury crowd loved it.

FOREVER DUSTY puts the spotlight on one of the UK's most legendary divas, DUSTY SPRINGFIELD, with 10 of her most popular, much loved tracks remade for the dancefloor by producer NIK C and performed by KAREN NOBLE, who is widely regarded as the UK's Number One Dusty Tribute artist with an eerie ability to reproduce the white soul vocals of the great lady herself.

It's a double CD with Disc One showcasing the tracks in specially extended club mixes and Disc Two featuring a special Megamix of the tracks courtesy of The Groovesisters.

Dusty Day 2010 - a roaring success!

The first reports about today’s DUSTY DAY are beginning to come in already and it sounds like despite the volcanic eruption causing travel problems for many, the Day was a resounding success and great fun.

The weather was very kind in London this afternoon and amongst many other events throughout the day, one of the highlights was the Dusty Day Auction. This year, items included a leather jacket, scarf, necklaces and eye lashes - all owned by Dusty, and now with new (and no doubt very happy) owners from amongst the fans. There was also a large pink neon ‘Dusty” signature, the same as the masthead here on the website.

Thanks to SImon Bell for organising the day, to Pat Rhodes for her ability to continually uncover new treasures each year, to Jonathan Cohen for the music, and to all those who perform and who work quietly behind the scenes - all of them together making DUSTY DAY something very special and unique.
